Year 3: Class 8 and Class 9
Welcome to Year 3
We are the class teachers: Mrs Wingfield (Class 8) and Miss Bullock (Class 9)
Key Information
In the autumn term, our P.E days are Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school, labelled with their name.
You can find further details of what your child is learning each week by looking at the half termly plans.
In preparation for the Year 4 statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), we use Times Tables Rock Stars to practice fluency with recall of times tables. Your child can also access this at home. If you are unsure of your child's login, please contact their class teacher.
Please make sure you are listening to your child read/ reading to them every day. Your child will bring home suitable books from school which suit their reading ability.
See below for the Y3 suggested reading list.
Year 3 Residential
Where: Plymouth Aquarium overnight
When: Thursday 3rd July 2025
Activities: The Aquarium sleepover is the ideal first residential for KS2 children. We meet early in the evening and start with a guided tour. Children then get to take part in lots of fun role play activities and games before settling down in the central room, where a large screen is lowered in front of the main fish tank, to watch a film before bedtime. The next day, breakfast is provided and children are then brought back to school in the morning.
There will be a parent meeting later in the year to provide further details.
Stars of the Week!
Congratulations to the following children for being this week's stars of the week.
Class 8: Florence
Class 9: Amy
Project homework show and tell
Year 3 children had the chance to create project homework based on the learning they will be doing this half term. As we had such a range of wonderful work, we invited parents and carers in to share this with them. The children were supportive to their peers, engaged in each other's work and keen to share what they had created with others. Well done Year 3!
18/11/24- Garden Day
The Year 3 children had another fun (but wet!) Garden Day. We spent some time creating natural skeletons using twigs, leaves and stones. These were then labelled in chalk using the names of bones that we had learnt in a previous science lesson. Afterwards, we spent some time trying orienteering for the first time. This was great for our map reading, team building and cooperation skills. In the afternoon we ended the day by creating some Christmas crafts that will be used to decorate the Christmas tree at St Eustacius for the Christmas Tree festival later in the month.
These are our classrooms, and the display between the two classes gives an overview of the learning journey our children have undertaken since starting Year 3 in September.
24/10/24- Year 3 Garden Day
The Year 3 children had a fantastic garden day today. All children created an egg box bat or spider, completed an autumn scavenger hunt and used the items they found to make their own leaf lantern. In the afternoon the children had time to use the equipment in the Environmental Garden before finishing off their day with a hot chocolate!
